  • Parent Volunteers

Parent volunteers are seriously needed to support our students and staff. Any amount of time you can work here at the school is appreciated. Right now we need parents to assist classroom teachers during Cookshop classes.  Students in grades kindergarten to second grade have an opportunity to learn healthy eating habits each month. We need parents to help teachers work with students as they cut up vegetables , help make other food items and clean up at the end of class. Cookshop classes are usually 45 minutes. If you would like to help the school with our cookshop program contact me at (718) 583-5355 ext. 1250

  • Dental Care and your Child

This year our school is participating in a free dental screening program with St. Barnabas Hospital. Parents were sent home permission slips in October. Students who returned completed consent forms are currently being screened by a dentist.   here at the school.  After the screening each student has a dental report card sent. To let parents know the state of their child's teeth.

So far the screening team has seem a number of students who need serious dental follow up. Poor dental care can result in lost permanent teeth, pain and may affect the health of your child. Remember, children should brush and floss twice a day. Check your children's teeth following brushing to make sure they are doing a good job. Reduce your child's consumption of sugary snacks and drinks. Many students  eat candy and drink sodas for breakfast and lunch.

If you want your child to have healthy teeth as an adult, make sure they learn how to take care of their teeth now.

A Message from Principal Harrington

Dear Parents and Guardians:

On behalf of the P.S. 306 administration, teachers and support staff, I would like to welcome you to another year filled with learning opportunities and academic growth.  We have planned many exciting activities and educational opportunities for our students and families.

As educators we have been assigned the important task of preparing our students for success in the future. However, in order to accomplish this goal, we must develop a partnership between the home and the school. We want you, the parents and guardians, to be active participants in your child’s education. You can do this by communicating with your child’s teacher, by participating in school events and by keeping informed of school initiatives. Important information will be sent home in your child’s book bag, which should be checked daily.

The Parent Handbook has been prepared to give you information regarding policies, procedures, routines and expectations. Please keep this handbook as a handy resource to be referred to throughout the school year. You can download it from our website in the Parent's Corner.

We look forward to another productive school year. Through the combined efforts of the school, home and community, we will continue to strive for excellence!

Sincerely,

Darryl Harrington
